🧰 The MOST important thing for all business owners?

Hi Reader,

There are LOTS of things you need to consider or do as a business owner but there is one thing that over-rides all others.

It is arguably the most important thing you need....

You need to have consistency.

This applies to any aspect of your business from testing new marketing channels to the way in which you provide feedback to any staff to picking yourself (& your business) up off the floor when it feels like things are falling down around you.

The irony is that we are all working on our businesses during a time where things are changing around us faster than ever before but despite this, remaining consistent with certain aspects of your business is key for success.

Here are some real life examples to better explain....

1. Building Trust ☕️

Any time a customer knows that they can rely on a business to deliver the same quality product or service each time, they are more likely to return or recommend that business to others. A great example of this is coffee chains like Starbucks. They have successfully created a global brand that promises a consistent experience, regardless of the store’s location. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world but you can expect the same experience, taste & atmosphere. This has been key to helping them maintain a loyal customer base and establish itself as a market leader. It wouldn’t have been possible for them to achieve this without delivering their product/service in a consistent manner.

2. Enhancing Brand Recognition 👟

Consistency is also crucial for branding. A company that maintains a consistent brand image and message is more likely to achieve recognition and recall from potential customers. For example, Nike’s “Swoosh” logo and “Just Do It” slogan are immediately recognisable due to their consistent use in marketing campaigns. This creates a strong brand identity that resonates with consumers, whilst also consistently reinforcing the brand's values and vision.

3. Streamlining Processes 🍟

It is important to have consistency within your business too as it is key in helping you to enhance internal operations or processes. By creating standardised processes and procedures, a business can work more efficiently and minimise errors. A great example of a business which has optimised this is McDonald’s. They use a highly standardised method of food preparation and service that allows the company to operate effectively across thousands of locations while delivering a uniform customer experience. This operational consistency is key to their business model and success.

4. Achieving Long-Term Growth 🍎

Lastly, consistency is key to helping companies achieve long term growth & makes them better positioned to adapt efficiently & effectively over time. It wouldn’t be possible for companies like McDonald's to streamline their processes the way they have if they hadn’t developed processes and stayed consistent with them for a period. This consistency would have allowed them time to recognise patterns, flaws & improvements that can be made... This same approach applies to lots of aspects of business from developing new ideas to trialing new marketing methods.

It can seem like consistency is just a “buzzword” but it is a crucial aspect that underpins a successful business &/or entrepreneur.

What are you doing in your business consistently?

Which things could you make more consistent?

How consistent do you need to be with things like social media?

This last question is something we will be discussing in more detail in this week's edition of the The Business Manual... The answer is very consistent but for a more structured breakdown of what that actually looks like subscribe here.

We hope you have found this helpful or at least interesting. Let us know by replying here if there is anything you’d specifically like to discuss or help you with!

See you next week,
